Research into the valence state of cerium in multi-component compounds with a garnet structure.
X-ray L3-absorption spectroscopy was used to study the valence state of cerium ions in multi-component compounds [Gd1.96BiCe0.04]Ga1.2Fe3.8O12, [GdBiCe0.5Ca0.5]Ga1.2Fe3.8O12 and [GdBiCe0.25Ca0.25]Ga1.2Fe3.8O12 with a ferrite-garnet structure. The absorption maxima shifts provided data on chemical bonding variation in ferrite-garnets owing to disturbance of their sublattice completeness.
